15 Things to Do Near Sight & Sound Theatre (Before or After Your Show)
By Best of Lancaster
Sight & Sound Theatre sits in Ronks, dead center of Lancaster County's densest attraction cluster — almost everything below is within 15 minutes of your seat. Here's how to fill the rest of a show day (full ticket/lodging strategy in our Sight & Sound trip guide).
Within 5 Minutes
- 1. Strasburg Rail Road — the steam ride is the classic pre-matinee morning.
- 2. Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania — 100+ locomotives, indoors, perfect post-show.
- 3. Choo Choo Barn — the beloved model-train layout, ideal for the under-8s.
- 4. Miller's Smorgasbord — the pre-show dinner institution since 1929; arrive early on show nights.
- 5. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm — the corn maze and farm play, seasonal.
- 6. The Amish Village — backroads bus tours from Route 896.
Within 15 Minutes
- 7. A buggy ride in Bird-in-Hand — Aaron & Jessica's or Abe's.
- 8. An Amish farm visit — the small-group tour fits neatly before an evening curtain:
- 9. Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse — 40 shops, free jam samples.
- 10. Quilt shopping along Route 340.
- 11. The covered bridges around Paradise — a perfect between-meals drive (routes here).

13–15: Strasburg's walkable main street, the scooter covered-bridge tours, and — Fridays — the Green Dragon 20 minutes north. The scooter run is the area's most fun half-day and leaves from Strasburg itself:
