Lancaster, PA Shopping Guide: Outlets, Amish Quilts & Antiques (2026)

By Best of Lancaster

Lancaster County shopping spans three completely different worlds — brand-name outlets, handmade Amish craftsmanship, and serious antiquing — usually within a ten-minute drive of each other. Here's how to work all three.

Route 30: The Outlet Corridor

Tanger Outlets Lancaster stacks 60+ brand stores — Nike, Coach, Kate Spade — at genuine 25–65% discounts, open seven days a week (a rarity here). It sits minutes from Dutch Wonderland, which enables the time-honored family split: one parent shops, one rides coasters. Full corridor options in the outlets rankings.

Route 340: The Real Thing

The corridor from Bird-in-Hand through Intercourse is why people cross states to shop here. The Old Country Store in Intercourse carries one of the county's largest selections of genuine handmade Amish quilts — hundreds of hours of hand-stitching each, priced accordingly at several hundred dollars and up. Treat it as the heirloom purchase it is: ask about the maker, the pattern, and the materials. The same corridor sells Amish hardwood furniture, baskets, and ironwork directly from local craftspeople — browse the Amish crafts rankings.

Next door, Kitchen Kettle Village wraps 40 food-and-craft shops around its working jam kitchen — the edible-souvenir headquarters of the county.

The Antique Trail

Lancaster County is one of the mid-Atlantic's premier antique regions. Adamstown, in the county's north, brands itself "Antiques Capital USA" with multi-dealer malls open year-round; the Friday-only Green Dragon market in Ephrata mixes antiques into its 400-vendor sprawl; and Route 30's antique malls absorb whole afternoons. See the antiques rankings for the standouts.

The Rules of Lancaster Shopping

  • Sundays: outlets and chains open; nearly all Amish-owned shops closed. Plan handmade-goods shopping Monday–Saturday.
  • Cash: smaller shops and every roadside stand prefer it — and the honor-system stands along Route 340 require it.
  • Market days: the Green Dragon is Fridays only; Central Market runs Tue/Fri/Sat (full schedule in the markets guide).

Logistics

Shopping the full county loop — outlets, Route 340, Adamstown — means real driving, so sort the car out first:

Staying over to shop both corridors properly? Downtown and Route 30 both work as bases:

Then fold shopping into the bigger trip with the weekend itinerary or the small towns tour.
